No time to blog
So I have got a lot of bento pics that I need to download off my camera and post. However, this past week has been crazy. I was sick for 3 days so no bento making. I also had to take Monkey1 back to the dentist to get the rest of his cavities filled. He got the hard part done, the numb stuff and then would not let her fix his teeth. **sigh** Now we have to go to another dentist and have him sedated a little so he can get his teeth fixed. My schedule is so packed with appointments right now I see no free time until after the end of the month. I am trying to get all the doctor and dentist appointments done before hubby gets deployed but it is giving me a major headache. Hopefully I will have time this week to get my blog caught up. The hard part is gonna be remembering which lunch I had on what day.
Monday: Spicy Tuna
Had a great weekend with the monkeys. The sun came out both days and the monkeys got to run around outside. Good thing too cause its supposed to rain the rest of the week. So far they are being really good while my hubby is gone. Today was a beautiful day and I am not looking forward to the wet and cold coming back. Our yard was just starting to dry out and now it will turn back into a muddy mess for our dog to track all over the house.
I had another go at making rice and IT TURNED OUT GREAT. I actually got lovely, fluffy, sticky rice. I was so happy after my miserable attempts last time to make rice. So for todays bento I made spicy tuna nigiri. They are a small round of rice, topped with spicy tuna and wrapped with nori. I also packed pickled ginger, broccoli, carrots, tomato, ranch dressing in the blue container, grapes and a mandarin orange.
Friday: 2 weeks alone with the Monkeys
Hubby left early this morning to go for 2 weeks of training with the Army. The monkeys have been behaving lately so hopefully it will continue. The weather is supposed to be nice so we can get outside this weekend. I am trying very hard to get my spring cleaning started so I don’t have to do it all at once. I feel like I have gotten some of it accomplished. It is so hard to get to the extra stuff when there is so much everyday cleaning to get done. My dream is a self-cleaning house
Maybe someone will invent one someday, or I can teach my monkeys to clean up after themselves. I wonder which will come first?
Bento with noodles and sesame ginger chicken, pickled ginger, cheese slices, tomatoes, sliced kiwi, grapes and cantaloupe skewers.
Wednesday: Popcorn Shrimp
Not much new going on around the home right now. Got our internet back up and running after Little Monkey destroyed our usb modem so hopefully I can get back to posting regularly.
This bento has popcorn shrimp, edamame, cocktail sauce in the yellow container, babybel cheese, pickles, carrot chips, broccoli, tomato, orange slices, grapes and hummus in the green container.
Tuesday: Getting Back to Normal
This morning was great. The monkeys all got up happy and on time. I got them dropped off to preschool on time, got in a good workout at the gym and ran a few errands before work. If only every day could go as smoothly. I shall keep hoping and maybe the power of wishful thinking will make it a reality.
Today’s bento is nothing fancy. I threw it together last night and you can tell I need to go grocery shopping.
Sliced ham rolls on picks, half an orange, broccoli, tomato, carrots, grapes, Babybel cheese, and ranch dressing in the orange container.
Monday: The good, the bad and the Monkeys
I took monkey1 to the doctor on Friday and it turns out he has an ear infection in both ears. I can’t believe he did not say anything about his ears hurting. I feel like a bad mom cause all the week before he kept getting in trouble for not listening. Turns out he just could not hear us. L He got some meds and is feeling much better now. Little monkey had a bad weekend. On Saturday he succeeded in breaking our wifi modem for the internet, so now we have to buy a new one if we want to be able to get online. $$$ He also decided to give himself a haircut with the safety scissors. He ended up with an almost bald spot in the middle of his hair and I had to cut the rest of it super short to even it out. It normally would not be so bad except he gets ecxema on his head in the winter so now you can see the dandruff. Yuck. Hopefully his hair grows back fast.
This morning went good. All three monkeys went off to preschool and I went back to work. I also got back to my bento making, Yippy!
Today I had pimento cheese sandwich, pepperoni, broccoli, carrot chips, tomato, ranch dressing in the blue container, sliced kiwi, grapes and fresh diced peaches.
Friday: Still Sick
So as you can tell by the lack of bento postings I am still dealing with sick monkeys. They were better on Wednesday so I went ahead and took them to the dentist appointment. Monkey1 did so good with getting his fillings, and monkey2 played nice and quiet in the waiting room. They were still running a low-grade fever on Thursday so I decided to keep them home one more day. They were fine all day yesterday. Just a slight fever but were feeling fine and playing so I figured they could go back to school today. I was so sure they would go back that I made my bento lunch last night and planned to go to the gym this morning. Monkey2 was fine this morning, Little monkey was still fine, but monkey1 had a fever of 102. *_* So monkey2 and little monkey went to school and monkey1 gets to stay home again. Hopefully when the doctor’s office opens I can get him and see why he is still sick. I guess I will just have to have my bento at home today.
This bento has sandwich wrap, tomato, ranch dressing in the yellow container, and orange, black bean and corn salad, carrot chips, broccoli, strawberry and grapes.
Keep your fingers crossed that all the monkeys will be better by Monday so they can all get back to school and I can get back to work.
Tuesday: Sick Monkeys
No bento today. I dropped off the monkeys at school and then went to the gym this morning. I was on my way home to get ready for work when the school called and said that monkey1 and monkey2 were sick. So I called in to work and turned around to go pick them up. Sure enough they were both running fevers. I got them to rest today and they seemed a little better at bedtime. Hopefully they are much better tomorrow so they can go back to school Thursday. Monkey1 has a dentist appointment tomorrow to get some of his many cavities filled. Hopefully he is feeling better so we can still make our appointment. I just have to figure out what to do with monkey2 since he will have to stay home from school tomorrow also. Hopefully all goes well and there will be bentos for Thursday and Friday.
Monday: Tex Mex
I had a great time with my girlfriends on Saturday night. Movie was really cute and dinner was great. It was nice to just sit and take my time while eating. We have decided we really need to try to get together more often, at least once a month if possible. I can’t wait till the next night out.
The other day while cleaning out my bento stuff I found some cute little chili pepper picks and decided to make a tex-mex bento for lunch today.
Today I have taquitos, blue corn chips, corn and black bean salad, a small container with salsa and sour cream, orange slices, tomato, cheese, grapes and strawberries.
Black Bean and Corn Salad
- 1 can black beans, rinsed
- 1 can corn, drained
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup italian salad dressing
- pinch of parsley
- pinch of onion powder
Mix well and refrigerate till ready to serve.
Friday: New Bento Box
I was so excited when I got home yesterday cause my new bento box came in the mail. It is a little smaller than I thought it would be but I can pack one of my small side dish containers along with it if I’m really hungry. I am also excited cause I get to go out with my girlfriends tomorrow night. Dinner and a movie sounds so great. I have not seen them in a few months cause everyone has been really busy with family. I’m also looking forward to getting out of the house and having a nice dinner out. Hopefully the monkey’s will behave for Daddy tomorrow night. They have not been behaving for me today.
Today I had pizza rolls, onigiri, babybel cheese, carrots, red pepper strips, tomato, hummus, and fruit salad.
